At BabyDonkie, our philosophy is simple. We believe in purchasing beautiful things that have been made to last. The freezing wintery weather has finally descended on Eastern Australia and it has been shivery cold the last few days in Sydney! I have pulled out the kid’s singlets, woollen jumpers, coats and beanies to beat the winds and drop in temperatures outside and cranked up the heater inside.
You are probably laughing as yes, I know, it is only about 9 degrees outside but Sydneysiders don’t cope well in the cold! We tend to hibernate once Winter hits and stay warm inside. However, if you rug your kids up well, it’s also a great time to go and check out Vivid and all its outdoor festivities across Sydney.
As a Mum of 4 and owner of online store BabyDonkie plus working full time in the corporate world, my go-to winter fashion for my younger kids is always Jamie Kay and for night time, G.Nancy sleepwear.
Both brands always have the most amazing wintery hues and I love that they both use organic cotton. Cotton is known for its ability to breathe while keeping the body nice and warm. They are perfect for layering your little ones up in the winter.
We all know how hard it is to get toddlers and kids into big winter jackets and warm knitted jumpers. One thing I like to do is on cold winter’s mornings, to add layers to their clothing to keep them warm. If you can add a bodysuit, leggings or singlets to go underneath their clothing and layer them up, this helps to keep the chill out.
This season Jamie Kay has a gorgeous winter colour palette of blues, mulberry and currant and their bodysuits, leggings, and singlets make the perfect winter layers.
Add to that their newest floral pattern range out this AW19 which includes my favourite, the Winter Floral. This decadent floral print comes a long-sleeved winter dress and leggings. You can mix and match with their other rib leggings like fig or currant.
Next up your toddler will need a warm knit and my favourite is Jamie Kay’s Cable Knit cardigan in Mulberry. The lush winter colours evoke a perfect Winter’s day feel.
Lastly, you can’t forget to rug up the kids come sleep time.
G.Nancy designs and makes all of their gorgeous kids pj’s right here in Sydney and they have been a long-time favourite of all my BabyDonkie customers since we started stocking the brand a few years back.
This season Georgia has teamed up with local artist Oliver Robert Holmes to create her ‘Celestial’ range for AW19. The stars, moons and planet illustrations are quirky and oh so fun for bedtime! The colour palette of currant and chalk are rich, luscious and just ooze winter feels. They are perfect for snuggling up with your toddler.
